The journey begins with a scenic boat ride along Sungai Merbok, winding through tranquil rivers bordered by lush mangrove forests. Along the way, keep an eye out for fascinating wildlife including Monitor Lizards, Little Herons, Brahminy Kites, Sea Eagles, and Kingfishers. The route leads to the enchanting Sungai Batu area, nestled at the foothills of Mount Jerai—once rich in valuable minerals such as magnetite, haematite, and geotite.
Delve into the region’s deep-rooted history, documented as early as the Cangkam Period (200 BCE to 200 CE) in ancient Indian records. Explore key archaeological sites and visit the Archaeology Museum, which houses artifacts uncovered from extensive excavations across the valley.
