DESCRIPTION

Langkawi’s Mount Matchinchang Geoforest Park offers a journey through time to a summit 701 meters above sea level. This ancient landscape, featuring weathered limestone and sandstone formations, represents the first land in Southeast Asia to emerge from the ocean over 550 million years ago. As you ascend, you will encounter a unique ecosystem supporting specialized flora and fauna that have evolved over half a billion years, guided by professional naturalists who provide in-depth knowledge of the local ecology and help you spot resident wildlife within the forest canopy.

The trek follows a well-defined trail that takes approximately two hours to reach the summit; however, it is physically demanding and requires a high level of fitness. Suitable for adults and children aged 12 and above, the hike culminates in a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Langkawi archipelago. The descent leads toward the Seven Wells area, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in cool, crystal-clear mountain streams—a perfect conclusion to an immersive experience in one of the world’s most significant geological heritage sites.
