Langkawi’s Mount Matchinchang Geoforest Park offers a journey through time, leading you to a summit 701 meters above sea level. This ancient landscape features stunning weathered limestone and sandstone formations, marking the first land in Southeast Asia to emerge from the ocean over 550 million years ago. As you ascend, you will encounter a unique ecosystem that has evolved over half a billion years, supporting a diverse range of specialized flora and fauna found nowhere else on the island.
The trek follows a well-defined trail that takes approximately two hours to reach the summit. While the path is manageable, it is physically demanding and requires a high level of fitness. This activity is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and above. Throughout the hike, our professional naturalist guides will share in-depth knowledge of the local ecology, helping you spot wildlife such as birds, butterflies, and monkeys that inhabit the forest canopy.
Upon reaching the peak, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Langkawi archipelago. After taking in the vista, the descent leads back toward the famous Seven Wells area, where we will stop at the jungle streams for a refreshing swim in the cool, crystal-clear mountain water. It is a perfect conclusion to an immersive trekking experience in one of the world’s most significant geological heritage sites.
