DESCRIPTION
As daylight fades, Langkawi’s rainforest transforms into a mysterious world where unique nocturnal creatures emerge. The tour begins at the base of Gunung Raya with a scenic drive to the summit of the island’s highest peak. As you wind through the dense canopy, your guide will help you spot resident wildlife such as monkeys, squirrels, and various bird species including hornbills and sunbirds. We will make several stops at scenic viewpoints, offering a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the archipelago as the sun begins to set over the horizon.
Just before nightfall, we descend toward Lubuk Semilang to search for the rainforest’s elusive nocturnal residents. This immersive walk provides a rare opportunity to encounter bats, flying squirrels, and the remarkable Flying Lemur (Colugo) in their natural habitat. Experience a completely different side of the jungle—quiet, mysterious, and alive with night-time activity—guided by our naturalist’s expert knowledge of these fascinating after-dark behaviors.

Tour Itinerary
- Total Duration: Approximately 2.5 Hours
- 5:20 PM – Meet up at the base of Gunung Raya. Meet your guide and fellow travelers, followed by a short orientation and safety briefing.
- 5:30 PM – Tour starts. Scenic drive up to the summit of Gunung Raya through rainforest-covered slopes.
- 6:00 PM – Wildlife spotting stops along the way. Look out for monkeys, squirrels, and birds such as hornbills, rollers, flowerpeckers, and sunbirds.
- 7:00 PM – Drive down from Gunung Raya toward Lubuk Semilang.
- 7:30 PM – Guided walk along the Lubuk Semilang trails in search of nocturnal wildlife such as bats, flying squirrels, and colugos.
- 8:00 PM – Tour ends.

What wildlife can we expect to see?
You may spot monkeys, squirrels, and birds such as hornbills, rollers, flowerpeckers, and sunbirds during the drive.
At Lubuk Semilang, there is a chance to see bats, flying squirrels, and, with some luck, the Flying Lemur (colugo).
Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed as animals are in their natural habitat.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Yes, the tour is suitable for children who are comfortable with short walks and quiet observation. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
How physically demanding is the tour?
The tour involves light walking and short uphill sections. It is not strenuous and does not require trekking experience.
What should I wear or bring?
Comfortable clothing suitable for warm, humid evenings. Footwear: Teva-style sandals, sports shoes, or gym shoes are all suitable. Trekking shoes are not required. The walking sections are gentle, not steep, and not dangerous. Mosquito repellent is recommended.
Do I need special equipment?
No special equipment is required. All guiding and interpretation are provided by your naturalist guide.
Are meals included?
No. Meals are not included. Guests are encouraged to eat before the tour or bring light snacks if needed.
What happens if it rains?
The tour usually proceeds in light rain. In case of heavy rain or unsafe conditions, the tour may be delayed or rescheduled.
How many people are on each tour?
Minimum 2 persons, maximum 12 persons per tour.
Is this a guaranteed wildlife tour?
No. This is a nature-based experience. While guides know the best areas to look for animals, sightings depend on weather, timing, and animal behavior.
