For the more energetic, head to the Kubang Badak River for an exciting kayaking adventure. Upon arrival at the jetty, you will receive a short briefing and basic paddling tips, making this experience suitable even for beginners. After putting on your life jackets, you will board the kayaks one at a time. Once everyone is ready, the journey begins. We paddle at a relaxed pace to fully enjoy the calm atmosphere of the river as it slowly opens out toward the sea.
Along the way, the guide shares insights into the mangrove ecosystem and explains why these forests are vital to coastal life. The tangled roots of mangrove trees form natural nurseries for countless organisms that have adapted to the constant rise and fall of the tides. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as sea eagles, brahminy kites, kingfishers, herons, mudskippers, fiddler crabs, and monitor lizards.
The next stop is an old charcoal kiln, where you will learn how mangrove charcoal was traditionally produced. From there, we continue paddling to Pinang Cave, the remains of an ancient sea cave formed when sea levels were about 25 meters higher than today.
The adventure ends at Jemuruk Island, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. On the return journey to the jetty, we stop at a floating restaurant to wrap up the day with a delightful lunch.
