KL FOREST ECO PARK (BUKIT NANAS FOREST RESERVE)
KL Forest Eco Park, formerly known as Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, is the only remaining virgin tropical rainforest in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Gazetted in 1906, it is the oldest forest reserve in Malaysia, serving as a vital "green lung" amidst the city's skyscrapers. This 9.3-hectare sanctuary offers a glimpse into the region's original lowland dipterocarp ecosystem.
THE CANOPY WALKWAY
The park's highlight is the 200-meter canopy walk, suspended 15 meters above the forest floor. It provides visitors with a unique perspective of the forest layers and a stunning contrast between the ancient jungle and the modern skyline, including close-up views of the KL Tower.
HISTORY & HERITAGE
The name "Bukit Nanas" (Pineapple Hill) originates from the 19th-century Selangor Civil War, where pineapples were planted as a defensive perimeter around the hill's fortress. Today, the area is a protected heritage site, housing diverse flora such as Meranti, Keruing, and Chengal trees, alongside resident wildlife including silver leaf monkeys and various tropical birds.
