Conservation History | Marine Stewardship & Education
For years, a dedicated routine unfolded at the edge of the Andaman Sea to protect one of Langkawi’s most vital ecosystems. The Coral Nursery at The Andaman was more than just a facility; it was a beacon of hope for marine rehabilitation, showcasing how tourism and conservation could work hand-in-hand.
Developed by Dr. Gerry Goeden to actively restore the coral reefs within the bay, the nursery's daily operations were powered by passion. At the heart of it all was Randy, the man behind the scenes. From managing seawater pumps to meticulously preparing nutrition for the corals, his work ensured that the "Staghorn" and other coral species had a fighting chance to thrive once transplanted back into the ocean.
A LESSON IN STEWARDSHIP
The nursery served as an invaluable educational hub, where guests could witness the fragile balance of marine life. It taught us that restoration requires patience, precision, and a deep respect for the sea. Randy’s expertise didn't just save corals; it inspired countless visitors to become better stewards of our oceans.
