THE STUDENTS ARE HERE — LYCÉE FRANÇAIS DE KUALA LUMPUR VISIT 2013

Community Projects | Environmental Education

Education is most powerful when it moves beyond the classroom and into the community. In May 2013, we had the pleasure of hosting a vibrant group of students from the Lycée Français de Kuala Lumpur (LFKL) for an immersive conservation and community service program in Langkawi.

The students' visit was far more than a typical school trip; it was a hands-on effort to contribute to the island's social and natural heritage. One of the highlights was a community art project where students spent hours painting colorful murals, including local wildlife and the Malaysian flag, to brighten up local facilities and school walls.

In addition to their artistic contributions, the LFKL group rolled up their sleeves for the Mangrove Planting Program on May 22, 2013. Under the guidance of our naturalists, the students waded into the mud to plant saplings, directly helping to restore the vital mangrove ecosystems that protect Langkawi's coastlines. This balance of community work and environmental action exemplifies the spirit of responsible youth travel that we champion at JungleWalla.
